7 fifth grade students. 4 boys on the left and 3 girls on the right. All children are wearing gray shirts with a yellow, red and green windmill on it. The students are standing in front of a brown table with 3 big trophies and one small trophy that they have won. All students are smiling. One trophy is gold and blue, one is red and gold and one is purple and gold and one is just gold.

Fifth grade challenge students have been building solar powered environments since January along with doing lots of research, writing a report, and putting together a presentation all to enter a competition called KidWind. All three teams advanced to regionals earlier this month and then yesterday, they won the regional competition in Charlottesville!! All three McGaheysville teams will now move on to the State competition in April!  Our teams won first, second, and third place, AND one team won a people’s choice award while another won the judge’s choice award!!
